NEW TOUR STOP

So the WSL is back at it again. Remember last year when just before Finals Day, they implemented that new Rule where if the 1 seed won their first Heat, they won the Title? Well anyways, they are back again with another mid-year Format (read: Schedule) change. The WSL will officially announce a โ€œnewโ€ wave to the 2026 Championship Tour tomorrow. Presumably an addition to the regular season? An extra โ€˜Post Seasonโ€™ stop?

Whatโ€™s your guess?

Personally, I am thinking they are putting JBay back on. That is why I put โ€œnewโ€ in quotes up there ^ . I will admit, the main driver of this thought process goes by the name of Gabriel Medina. Have a look at the comment he left on (one of) the WSLโ€™s post.

They ran 4 posts about this new stop, building anticipation and excitement amongst Surf Fans and Media worldwide. It would seem fitting in WSL fashion to leave everyone bitter after the announcement tomorrow if it is JBay again, or somewhere silly like Sunset Beach, Hossegor, or even Ocean Beach, San Francisco. Donโ€™t get me wrong, OB could be cool. I personally love Sunset, and sometimes France is crazy good. Itโ€™s just, weโ€™ve already done that.

I think we are all hoping for somewhere new. Ideally somewhere that has waves of substance – maybe some tubes and some high performance; Lakey Peak anyone? Shoot I actually would not mind Keramas again. That was only a 1 time thing, and it was a great comp, I thought. So was Barra. Another lesser of evils there.

Well all find out tomorrow, and Iโ€™ll be back to hear your reactions. But youโ€™ve heard my guess – what do you think?

What wave will be added to the 2026 WSL Championship Tour?

Cheers,
