I’m preparing for summer. It’s basically here. I think the official start is next week. Most schools are either out already, or will be by next week. I can tell because I went surfing this morning.
There is a new apartment complex going up on my street. Construction everyday. Construction workers stealing parking spots by 7am. Sitting in their cars at lunch, some leaving, some staying. BBQ grills out.
“Are you leaving?”
“Hey, excuse me, are you leaving?”
“Can I take your parking spot?”
Please do not do that this summer at your local beachie. Don’t do that ever.
Go park across the street and walk to the surf if you have to. Keep driving and find another spot. Drive to another break. I don’t care what you have to do. Don’t be the fucking pest waiting around for someone to change out of their suit and hustle up for you.
I would never stop to ask if someone is leaving and wait for the parking spot. It’s just rude. You should never. You should tell your friends to never do that. It’s basically Rule Number One.
Be warned; There will be a lot of people doing that to you this summer. It is the quickest way to spot a fucking idiot. If you happen to see that person in the lineup, don’t ever sit next to them. They are terrible people, and probably worse surfers.
Cheers,
