Never been done before, right? Fucking gnarly. I understand he was in straps, obviously towed, but wow.
This is exactly what I was referring to 2 years ago when I name dropped him in this piece as the most progressive surfer I have seen.
The shit this guy is doing, whether on 50 foot Nazare or in a wave pool, is way before his time. He is pushing ideas and pulling off maneuvers that will become the norm in the future. He is a game changer, and he deserves his props.
Someone has to give him some credit. He seems like one of the most humble guys ever; no claim, no big long caption to go with one of the wildest clips I’ve seen in a month, and most of his clips get sorta swept under the rug. He is viewed as more of a niche kinda surfer, when he’s actually pushing the boundaries of our ‘sport’.
Imagine if that kid Szekley pulled this off? Can you seriously picture it? The thought of that caption makes me cringe. The flooding of the clip all over the internet would happen so fast your head would spin. The stark contrast in ‘professional’ surfing personalities keeps me buzzing.
